Description

Brook Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse, now a house, located on the north side of Titchmarsh High Street. Originally a 2-unit plan building, it is constructed of squared coursed limestone and has a thatched roof. The farmhouse is single storey with an attic. The front elevation features a two-window range. A four-light stone mullion window with a king mullion is situated to the left; above it is a gabled dormer with a similar three-light stone mullion window. A leaded casement window, under a timber lintel, is located on the ground floor to the right. The roof is hipped and gabled, with ashlar gable parapets and kneelers. The ashlar stack at the ridge has four flues linked by arches and a moulded cornice. The rear elevation has a central four-panelled, part-glazed door, and eyebrow dormers to the attic. The interior, which was not inspected, is noted to contain remains of an open fireplace.
