Description
Leasowes Farmhouse is a mid-17th century farmhouse built in two stages. It features squared coursed limestone with quoins and coped gables, topped by a stone-slate roof with rendered brick stacks that have original stone bases. The farmhouse has a three-unit plan, is two storeys high plus an attic, and has a three-window range. The ground floor has part-renewed four-light mullioned windows, while the first floor has three-light mullioned windows. There are three full gabled dormers from the 17th century, each with two-light mullioned windows. All the mullioned windows are adorned with hood moulds and labels. At the rear, there is a staircase range that is also two storeys high plus an attic, featuring additional three-light mullioned windows with hood moulds and labels. A 19th-century two-storey stone range is located to the rear left, along with a 20th-century stone extension in the angle. Inside, there are some chamfered spine beams and ovolo-moulded spine beams on the ground and first floors. The interior also includes two large open fireplaces with ovolo-moulded timber bressumers, a newel staircase leading to the attics, and some stone flagged floors.
