Description
Parkgate Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been divided into two dwellings and altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone and features a tiled roof with coped verges and brick stacks. The building has an L-plan layout with a central baffle-entry. The south front is two-storey and has three windows, all of which are sash windows. The central entrance consists of a four-panelled door with a flat wooden hood, flanked by an eight-pane sash window on either side and a six-pane fixed window to the right. On the first floor, there are two six-pane sashes and a six-pane fixed window to the right. The right wing projects and contains a three-light casement window in a former mullioned casement with a hoodmould, along with a single casement window to the left. The first floor of the wing has a two-light casement, while a single-storey outhouse features a planked door and a two-light casement. The rear of the wing includes a planked door, a two-light mullioned casement, and various other casements, while the rear of the main range has eight-pane sashes. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered beams and a blocked open fireplace with a chamfered lintel.
