Description
Pond Close is a detached cottage dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone and features a Welsh slate roof with gable end brick stacks and an integral outshut. The cottage is two storeys high and has a three-window west front. The central gabled porch has a Tudor-arched opening with a coped verge and a planked door, flanked by 15-pane sash windows. On the first floor, there are three-light casements on either side of a two-light casement, with coped verges above. The right side of the cottage has a single-light and a two-light casement, while the left side features a 20th-century conservatory on the ground floor and a two-light casement on the first floor. At the rear, there is a planked door with a three-light casement on either side. Inside, the cottage includes an open fireplace with a timber lintel, reused beams, and a grey marble fireplace in the drawing room. This building was formerly a keeper's cottage for the Wardour Estate and is situated in an isolated location.
