Description

Coombe Cottage is a detached cottage dating to the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a thatched roof and gable end brick stacks. The building follows an L-shaped plan. The two-storey front has a central 6-panelled door within a 20th-century glazed porch, and a tripartite 8-pane sash window to the left, and a 4-pane sash window to the right. The first floor has two 2-light leaded casements. The right return has three 2-light casements, and a 20th-century attic dormer with an external brick stack. The left return has a 20th-century leaded casement. The rear of the cottage features a 2-light leaded casement within a 20th-century greenhouse. A rear wing incorporates a planked door within the greenhouse and a 3-light casement to the left. The rear wing’s raised eaves accommodate a 3-light casement. The interior is said to contain chamfered beams and open fireplaces.
