Description

The Old House, Littlecot and C L Latham, Butcher's Shop is a building that includes a house with a store and butcher's shop, located on High Street in Twyford. It dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, was refronted in the 18th century, and extended in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame with colourwashed infill and is topped with an old plain tile roof.

The main façade, which faces the road, has four small bays and stands at one and a half storeys, with an irregular arrangement. The inner bays contain 6-pane segmental head sashes, while the left bay has a blocked door. The wide right bay features a 20th-century 'Olde Worlde' door beneath a long hipped hood that extends to the corner. Above the central bays, there are two 2-light casements set in gabled dormers. The roof is half-hipped to the left, with a stack near the front on the left end and a ridge stack above the door, while the roof is hipped around the right corner.

At the right end, which is set at an angle, there is a 20th-century hipped bay with a similar dormer above it. Set back beyond this is a section with two bays of exposed 17th-century frame, each bay featuring a 19th-century 2-light casement and a top-lit door in a gabled porch with trellised sides, along with a 2 or 3-light gabled dormer above. Further along, there is a 20th-century shop under a continued roof with a dormer.
