SK 15 NE PARISH OF HARTINGTON NETHER QUARTER BUXTON ROAD 10/88 (West Side) Milepost 14 metres south of Mount Pleasant Farm at NGR SK 167 582 II

Milepost. Mid C19. Manufactured by James Haywood, Phoenix Foundry, Derby. Cast iron. Triangular sectioned base with shallow sloping top, curving up to form flat back with segmental arched head, South face inscribed: 'BUXTON/12 MILES' and below: 'J HAYWOOD /PHOENIX WORKS /DERBY'. North face inscribed: 'ASHBOURNE/8 MILES' and below manufacturers name again. Top face inscribed 'LONDON/147 MILES/ DERBY / 21 MILES,/HARTINGTON PARISH'. Total height about 3½ feet.
