Description
The range of barns and two stables east of Ivy House Farm is a group of farm buildings dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with gritstone dressings and quoins, topped with a hipped slate roof that has lead flashings on the east and north sides, while the south range features asbestos sheets. The buildings are two storeys high and are arranged in a U-shape, with an advanced central section in the east range.
The eastern range has a blocked three quoined doorcase with rebates, and above the northern door, there is a similar doorcase. To the south, a timber lintel is set in the stonework with a flush hayloft opening beyond. On either side, there are quoined doorcases with a flight of stairs leading to similar upper doorcases. The projecting wings on either side consist of three bays, featuring quoined doorcases and flush windows on the sides, along with blocked flush hayloft openings above. An additional lean-to is present on the south side. This building is included in the listing for its group value only.
