Description

This milepost, located on Ashbourne Road in the parish of Kirk Langley, dates from the early 19th century and is made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with a sloping upper section that rises to a back plate featuring a curved top. The milepost is inscribed with the following distances: LONDON 130 MILES, BUXTON 29 MILES, LANGLEY PARISH, ASHBOURNE 9 MILES, DERBY 4 MILES, and includes the name J HAYWOOD JUNr and the PHOENIX FOUNDRY in DERBY.
