Description
Meynell House is a hotel dating from around 1800. It is built of red brick with a plain tile roof, featuring brick gable stacks, coped gables, and a parapet. The building has two and three storeys, with the south elevation displaying five symmetrical bays and a lower bay on the left. A central Tuscan Doric porch is supported by respond pilasters and features a triglyph frieze. The entrance consists of a raised and fielded panelled door with a rectangular overlight, flanked by two glazing bar sash windows under gauged brick lintels. Above, there are five similar windows, with five smaller windows above that. The lower wing to the left includes a three-light segment-headed window on the ground floor and a four-light 20th-century casement window above.
Inside, there is an open string staircase with simply carved tread ends, stick balusters, and a wreathed handrail, which is curved on the inside.
