Description
Langley House, formerly listed as Kirk Langley Rectory, is a house from the early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof, featuring stone coped gables and plain kneelers. The building has brick gable stacks and a moulded stone eaves cornice. It is two storeys tall with attics and has a T-plan layout. The symmetrical five-bay south elevation includes a central doorway with a plain painted stone doorcase and a bracketed hood. The door is raised and fielded with a rectangular overlight above. On either side of the doorway are two glazing bar sash windows under gauged brick lintels, with thick glazing bars that have mostly been renewed to the same dimensions. Above, there are five similar windows, and three 2-light roof dormers with hipped roofs. The side elevations feature decorative blind windows. Inside, there is an open well staircase with a closed string, widely spaced turned balusters, ball finials, and pendants. The right-hand front room has a panelled dado and fitted panelled cupboards, while the rear wing contains a heavily moulded beam with a scarf joint.
