Description

This is an early 19th-century mile post made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with a sloping upper part that rises to a back plate with a curved top. The mile post is inscribed with the following information: "LONDON 136 MILES, BUXTON 23 MILES, YELDERSLEY TOWNSHIP, ASHBOURNE 3 MILES, DERBY 10 MILES, J HAYWOOD JUNR, PHOENIX FOUNDRY, DERBY."
