Description
Laundry Cottage is located on the Osmaston Manor estate and was built around 1849 by Henry Stevens of Derby. The cottage is constructed from coursed rock-faced limestone with sandstone dressings and features a stone slate roof that has a deep Swiss-chalet style overhang, supported by exaggeratedly elongated brackets. It is a two-storey building with a T-plan layout and includes a continuous band at the first floor level.
The south elevation has three bays, with the central bay projecting and featuring a 3-light recessed and chamfered mullion window. The outer bays also have similar 3-light windows on the ground floor, while the first floor windows are adorned with wooden eaves brackets that rise from the stone band. The west gable end displays two 4-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows. On the north elevation, there is a doorway with a Tudor arch and a plank door, along with a 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion window, and one first floor window located beneath the eaves.
