Description
Osmaston Park Cottage is a cottage ornée located on the Osmaston Manor Estate, built in the late 1840s, possibly by Stevens of Derby. The cottage features red brick construction, partly rendered, with a thatched and plain tiled roof. It has a twin brick diamond plan ridge stack and gable end stacks. The building is two storeys tall with an irregular plan.
The south elevation consists of three bays and is designed to be a picturesque eyecatcher visible from the boating lake. The central bay is advanced and includes a tall canted bay window with Gothic glazing in the side lights and a projecting canopy. On either side of this bay are windows with shallow segmental heads and small pane 3-light wooden casements. Above, there are two similar windows set under flat arches, with the thatch above cut away in a shallow eyebrow. At the rear, there is a plainer T-range with rendered walls, tiled roofs, and similar casement windows.
