Description
The stables at Home Farm are a stable block built around 1849, likely designed by Stevens of Derby. The structure is made of red brick and features plain tile roofs with stone coped gables and moulded kneelers. It has a pronounced dentilled eaves band. The building consists of single-storey ranges on either side of a two-storey centrepiece.
On the south elevation, the tall centre block has a hipped roof that rises to a gabled wooden pigeon cote, topped with a gabled brick bell turret and a weather vane. The ground floor includes a doorway with a basket arch and a window to the right, also with a basket arch. Above, there is a single window with a basket arch and a wooden casement. The single-storey ranges to the left and right feature a dentil eaves band and rows of doors and windows, all now blocked except for some louvred openings. The arrangement of doors and windows in the west wing is A-B-A-B-B-A-B, while in the east wing it is B-A-A-B-B-A-B. The rear elevation has projecting gabled bays with upper doorways leading into the loft.
