Description
Yeldersley Hall is a country house dating from the 18th century, with additions and alterations from the early 19th century and around 1910 by Currey & Thompson of Derby. The exterior is primarily brick, mostly cement rendered, with stone dressings. It features Welsh slate hipped roofs, brick ridge stacks, and lateral stacks. The building has two storeys and an irregular L-shaped plan. Architectural details include a first-floor band, a moulded cornice, a shallow parapet, and an asymmetrical facade of five, plus seven bays, with the five bays to the left projecting. The south-east elevation's central doorway has a half-glazed door, with three glazing bar sashes to the right and two to the left. Above, there are five glazing bar sashes, each with a wedge lintel and keystone. A two-bay return elevation is located to the right. The recessed seven-bay section has a doorway on the left, followed by three evenly spaced glazing bar sashes, and then three more closely spaced sashes. A similar arrangement is above. A three-storey north wing with segmental-headed casement windows is also present. A porch and bay window were added around 1910 by Currey & Thompson, who also added a bay to the billiard room at the north-east end. Inside, the main staircase has an open well, a top light, and turned balusters. Several fireplaces feature Delft tiles, and the drawing room includes an 18th-century chimney piece and late 19th-century William Morris Willow Pattern wallpaper.
