Description

This is a mile post located 250 yards north of the junction with Liffs Road, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a sloping top that rises to a straight back plate with a curved top. The mile post is inscribed with the distances to various locations: London (146 miles), Derby (20 miles), Alsop en le Dale (parish), Ashbourne (7 miles), and Buxton (13 miles). It was made by James Haywood at the Phoenix Works in Derby.
