Description

Mile Post located on Ashbourne Road in the parish of Mackworth, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a sloping upper section that rises to a back plate with a curved top. The mile post is inscribed with the distances to various locations: London 129 miles, Buxton 30 miles, Mackworth parish, Ashbourne 10 miles, and Derby 3 miles.
