Description
The Thatched Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with 19th-century alterations and a restoration in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with lath and plaster infill and a roughcast exterior. The cottage has a thatched roof with a brick ridge stack and a gable stack. It is two storeys high and has a lobby entrance with a two-cell plan.
The north elevation consists of two sections: the taller 17th-century timber-framed part on the left has a central doorway with a 20th-century door and a 20th-century open-sided porch topped with a gabled thatched roof. This section is flanked by small two-light casement windows under flat arches. Above, there are two 20th-century three-light windows beneath shallow eyebrow dormers that are interrupted by the wall plate. The lower brick section to the right has two two-light windows under segmental heads. Inside, the cottage features exposed box-framing.
