Description
The Old School House is a building that originally served as both a house and a school, dating from the early 18th century and altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a roof made of banded plain and fishscale tiles, which is half hipped to the east. The building has a brick ridge stack and an additional brick stack just off the ridge.
It stands two storeys tall with a south elevation that comprises four bays. The left section of the building has a two-room plan with a central stack. There is a central doorway with a segmental head that contains a 20th-century glazed door, and this is sheltered by an open 19th-century gabled porch. To the right of the doorway, there are two three-light casement windows with segmental heads and diamond-pane lights, while to the left, there are two similar two-light windows. Above, there are four two-light windows set under flat arches, also featuring diamond lights.
