SX7569 NORTH STREET 849-1/10/117 (East side) Foale's Cottage, in alley running under No 18, about 20m E of street

GV II

House. Early or mid C19; possibly older. Solid rendered ground storey; roughcast upper storey. Slated roof. Chimney on left gable end. 2 storeys. 3 windows wide with doorway between the 2 right-hand ground storey windows. Plank door in bead-moulded frame. 3-light wood casement windows; 4 panes per light in ground storey, 3 panes per light above. Some casements have old strap hinges. Houses in back alleys rarely survive in Ashburton; this one is unusually well-preserved.
