Description
No. 3 Church Street is a detached house, likely built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of ham stone that is nearly ashlar, with coursed rubble on the sides. The house features a triple angle clay tiled roof with stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks at each end. It has two storeys and three bays, with horizontal-bar casement windows that have three lights under timber lintels. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door set in a slight recess, also with a timber lintel. The interior has not been seen.
Additionally, there is a boundary wall located four metres to the east of the house. This wall is about one metre high, made of ashlar with a battered face, a projecting top course, and plain coping. It includes a curved return leading to a metal gate at the southeast corner of the house, all of which contribute to the setting of the property. The house was formerly known as Ashfield Lodge.
