Description
No. 14 on Church Street is a house from the 17th century, built with large ham stone ashlar and topped with a Welsh slate roof that has a coped gable at the north-east and continues to the south-west. It features brick chimney stacks and stands two storeys high with four bays. The building has a chamfered plinth and a continuous string course at the ground floor that steps up over the doorway. The windows are hollow-chamfered mullioned designs with three lights, except for the upper bay 2, which has a two-light window. The lower bay 1 contains a composite plain sash window in a beaded surround, while lower bay 2 features a cambered-arched doorway with a deep lintel, which holds an early 19th-century six-panel door with toplights. The interior has not been seen.
Four metres north-west of the house are boundary railings made of hoops enclosing plain arrowheads, topped with cast fleur-de-lys and urn finials on the standards, along with a matching gate opposite the door. There is also a return railing at the north corner of the house made of plain arrowhead rails, all of which enhance the setting of the house. This property is directly joined to Nos. 16 and 18 to the south-west.
