Description
No. 52 is a house located at the end of a row, dating from the early 19th century. It features a facade made of Ham stone ashlar, with squared rubble on the sides and rear. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has a shallow pitch between stepped coped gables, along with brick chimney stacks at each end. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows are sash style with 12 panes in plain openings. In the lower bay, there is a part-glazed door set within a timber lattice porch that has a hipped metal roof. On the north gable, there is a two-light chamfer-mullioned window set in a shallow recess on the first floor. The interior has not been seen.
Approximately 3 metres west of the house, there are front boundary railings atop a low stone wall. These railings feature hammered spearpoints on the middle and top rails, with scroll links and spiked drops on the top rail, and cast acanthus finials on the standards. There is a matching gate opposite the door, and the railings return to each end of the house, contributing to the setting of the house and enhancing the streetscape.
