Description
The United Reform Church in Bower Hinton is an Independent Church that was established by 1837 and enlarged between 1887 and 1893. It is constructed from Ham stone ashlar and features a hipped plain clay tile roof over stone slate base courses. The building is single-storey with three bays and has some additions. It has a plinth and three-light pointed arched windows with mullions and transoms, but no tracery. On the south gable, there is a three-light semi-circular arched window above a later 19th-century porch, which has a pair of boarded doors set in a pointed archway of non-traditional style. This is topped by a quatrefoil panel set in the coped west gable, which has an obelisk finial. The south wall includes two small lancets. There is an additional extension on the north gable with a Welsh slate roof, featuring a triple lancet in the west wall above a single lancet in a lower lean-to that also has a pointed-arched doorway. The interior has not been seen.
