MARTOCK CP BOWER HINTON Former Manse to United Reformed Church and front boundary railings

GV II Detached house. Early C19. Ham stone ashlar front, coursed rubble to sides and rear; plain clay tile roof, undulating, between stepped coped gables; brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. Two storeys, three bays. Plain mullioned windows of three lights with horizontal-bar casements set in, but to lower bay one a later C19 angled bay window with plain sashes and stepped hipped roof; to lower bay two a six-panel door in architrave, up four steps, with moulded stone flat hood on shaped stone brackets. To rear a lean-to extension, and a 15-pane sash window to stairwell in rear wall. Interior not seen. About 2 metres west of house a low stone wall with railings having cast fleurs-de-lys tops, arched-braced, with returns to each front corner of house, no gate; all adding to setting of house and to streetscene.
