Description
No. 50 is a cottage located at the end of a row in Hurst, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings and features a triple-roll clay tile roof between stepped coped gables, along with brick chimney stacks. The cottage has two storeys and consists of two bays. It has plain mullioned windows with three lights in architraved surrounds, which include horizontal bar infills. Between the bays, there is a 20th-century glazed door that is screened by a lean-to porch made of ashlar, timber, and tiles. The interior has not been seen. Approximately 3 meters west of the house, there is a low stone wall with railings featuring alternate small hoops and arrowheads, along with urn finials on the gate standards and a mid-20th-century gate. The wall has return railings at the north end and a brick wall to the south, all of which contribute to the setting of the house and the overall streetscape.
