Description
No. 3 Broadmead Lane is a cottage located at the end of a row, dating from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed from Ham stone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a thatched roof with stepped coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has two bays. It includes hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, with labels above the lower windows. The window arrangement consists of a single-light window in the lower bay 1, which is blank above, a 2-light window in upper bay 2, and a 3-light window in lower bay 2. Between the bays, there is a 20th-century boarded door in a heavy frame beneath a timber lintel. The interior has not been seen. According to the Parish Council, this cottage is said to represent a row of former flax sheds.
