Description
This is a detached house, likely dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of raw stone with roughly cut and squared ashlar dressings to the first two bays, and ashlar to the remainder. The roof is covered with Welsh slate, featuring stepped coped gables and stone slab chimney stacks. The house is two storeys high and has four bays. It has hollow-chamfered mullioned windows of three lights, with labels; these are rectangular-leaded and have iron-framed opening lights, set within wave-mould recesses, except in the first bay where the recesses are chamfered. A pair of boarded doors are set within a cambered arched doorway in the lower bay three, featuring incised spandrils, a deep lintol, and a square label. A lean-to extension adjoins the north gable, with a simple window having a beaded surround, and a north porch is also present. The interior remains unseen. Approximately two metres west of the house is a low stone wall upon which are simple wrought iron railings. These feature necked points to the rails and cast fleur-de-lys finials to the arch-braced standards. A matching gate, positioned opposite the doorway, incorporates ogee bracing and scroll ornament to the middle and bottom rails. These railings contribute significantly to the setting of the house and the wider street scene.
