Description

Old Dairy House is a semi-detached house from the 18th century, constructed of Ham stone ashlar with a plain clay tiled roof that features coped gables and brick chimney stacks at each end. The building has two storeys and consists of four bays. It has a plinth, an eaves course, and mullioned windows that are slightly chamfered within simple architraves. The windows have horizontal bar casements, with three-light casements in the outer bays and bay two, and two-light casements in the upper bay three. The lower bay three features a boarded door set in an architraved surround, topped with a hood mould.

Attached to the south gable is a two-bay extension that is set lower and has a plain gable. This extension includes small pane casements in the lower bays and two-light horizontal bar casements above. The south gable has been rebuilt. The interior has not been seen.

Approximately 600 millimeters west of the main house, there are cast iron railing panels mounted on low stone walling, with returns at each corner and at the front door. The panels feature decorative curls and sawtooth tops, and there is no gate, all of which contribute to the setting of the house.
