Description
No. 40 Lower Odcombe is a cottage that dates back to 1794. It is constructed from cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings, and features a Welsh slate roof with stone slate base courses and stepped coped gables. The cottage has brick chimney stacks at both ends and stands two storeys tall with two bays. The windows are mullioned, consisting of three lights each, and are beaded with simple architraves. The lower windows are notably deeper, and the upper bay one is slightly out of alignment. Between the bays, there is a six-panel door with toplights set in a plain charred opening, topped by a moulded stone slab hood supported by rudimentary console brackets. The lintel above the door is inscribed with 'TMH 1794'. The interior has not been seen.
