Description
No. 2 is a detached house from the early 19th century, constructed of Ham stone ashlar with a half-hipped Welsh slate roof between coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The building has a double-roof plan, is two storeys high with attics, and features two bays. It has a plinth, cornice, and a shallow plain parapet. The house includes 12-pane sash windows in plain openings. In the lower bay, there is a six-fielded-panelled door set under a rectangular fanlight with diamond panes, also in a plain opening. A circular attic window is located in the south gable. The interior has not been seen.
About 2 meters west of the house, there is a low stone wall with a chamfered plinth and steeply sloped coping stones. This wall has square piers with a frieze band and bell-hip tops, with walls capped by wrought and cast-iron railings featuring taper points on the middle and top rails, and fleur-de-lys finials on arch-braced standards. A matching gate is located between the piers opposite the doorway. This wall and railings enhance the setting of the house, which is one of the few in the village to have a front garden.
