Description
Nos 7 and 8 on The Borough are a pair of houses, likely originally one, dating from the 17th century. They are constructed from Ham stone ashlar and feature double Roman clay tiles beneath high coped gables, which probably replaced thatch. The houses have brick end chimney stacks, one of which has a stone base.
The buildings are two storeys with an attic and consist of three bays. They have hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, with three lights and a continuous label string above the lower windows. Although casements have been inserted, the lower bay 3 has been replaced with two horizontal-bar casements in plain openings. There are doorways to lower bay 2 and between bays 2 and 3, both featuring 20th-century part-glazed doors. A former doorway between bays 1 and 2 has been partially blocked by a three-light casement. Additionally, there is a casement window in the attic of the north gable, and extensions have been added to the rear. The interior has not been seen.
