Description
Ty Gwilym is a detached Regency villa dating from the early 19th century. It features a rendered and ashlared exterior with a hipped Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has three windows, with the outer bays slightly stepped forward. The windows are twelve-pane sashes set in 'Greek' moulded architraves, except for the central window, which is plain. Above the central window, there are low-pitched pediments on consoles, and below, two large twelve-pane sashes are also topped with similar pediments. The central entrance has a recessed 20th-century six-panel door with a transom light above it.
A verandah, accessed by two steps, has a tent roof supported by decorative iron supports, with suspended interlacing arches beneath a frieze. At the right-hand end of the verandah, there is a section of balustrade that returns to the wall face. The villa is excellently detailed and unusually well preserved. The interior has not been inspected.
