Description
The gate piers, gates, and boundary walls to Tutshill Lodge are located on Beachley Road and date from the early 19th century. The structure features sandstone walls and iron gates. There is a pair of piers, each approximately 800 millimeters square and about 3.5 meters high, topped with large ball finials on square ogee cappings with a moulded edge on rock-faced piers that rest on a moulded plinth. The iron gates are designed to sweep up to the hinges and include decorative hanging stiles and rails. On each side, there are quadrants of sandstone snecked walling with weathered sandstone cappings that return to square piers measuring around 650 millimeters square, featuring flat cappings with a moulded cornice and ball finials. The upper pier is approximately 2.25 meters high, while the lower pier is about 3 meters high to accommodate the slope of the hill. The overall width of the structure is around 11 meters.
