Description
The Powder House is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features a rendered exterior and a concrete tile roof, with gable and flanking stacks. The building is long and set gable to the street, with a roof that sweeps down at the back. It has three storeys and two wide-spaced windows, which include 6-pane over 12-pane sash windows above French doors that have margin bars. There is a central pair of similar doors, each with a fielded panel, located behind a glazed verandah supported by eight slender cast iron columns. At the back, the building has two storeys with a three-window arrangement, featuring 12-6-12-paned windows on the upper floor above a 20th-century metal sash window to the left and a central 6-pane sash window. A central 20th-century glazed door leads to a gabled wooden porch. The Powder House visually groups with the Church of St Luke, located on the opposite side of the road.
