Description

The archway to Old School Lane is a stone structure from the mid-19th century, located on the west side of the B4228 in Tidenham. It features a rough segmental arch with a keystone inscribed with the words 'OLD SCHOOL LANE'. The arch is supported by side abutments that have tall segmental-headed openings, each containing one vertical iron bar. Between these openings is a small iron single gate, which has spiked rods on the top and bottom rail and a diagonal brace. The entire archway is approximately 3.5 metres wide and 2.5 metres high, set between retaining walls. The inscription on the archway refers to a former school, which is now a dwelling and is situated along the Offa's Dyke Path.
