Description
The Old Smithy and Store behind is a 19th-century building located on the west side of Mickleton High Street. The old smithy features a brick construction, with some 20th-century rebuilding, and has dentilled eaves. It has a limestone slate roof with a chimney positioned at the rear right, near the eaves. The store behind is built of brick in a rat trap bond style, with square panelled timber framing at the rear, and has a grey slate roof. The old smithy consists of one room with a store at the rear, making it two rooms in total. The facade of the old smithy is three storeys high and has a single window, with all windows featuring segmental heads. The store behind includes garage doors on the right and a plank door with a 19th-century casement window that has ventilation bars on the left. The interior of the smithy no longer contains any remnants of the forge. This building occupies a prominent corner position on Main Street and is included for its group value.
