Description
Chestnut Cottage and The Chestnuts are two semi-detached cottages dating from the mid-19th century. They feature a facade made of ashlar limestone with a projecting plinth, while the stone behind the facade is coursed, squared, and dressed limestone. The cottages have a tiled roof with two ashlar end stacks and an additional stack off centre to the right, all topped with moulded features and skirtings. The principal gable slightly projects forward from the left and is flanked by two gabled dormers that run along the eaves. The facade has a 1:1:1 window arrangement, consisting of two and three-light stone mullioned casements, most of which have stopped hoods. There is a canted bay window in the principal gable, covered by a limestone slate roof, which extends over the door surrounds that slightly project from the facade. The doors are painted, plank doors accessed by three steps, with a single light window to the right of the left door.
