Description

Richmond House is an early 18th-century house, also shown as Cotswold House on the 1:2500 Ordnance Survey Map. It is built of coursed ashlar stone. The roof is grey slate on the side facing the road and limestone on the other side, with a hipped design on the right. The left gable end features flat limestone coping with a roll-cross saddle. There is a 20th-century ashlar stack near the left end and another off-centre to the right near the ridge. A brick stack is located near the eaves, off-centre to the left at the front. The main body of the house is one room deep and extends back at the rear, off-centre to the left. The house has two storeys and a four-windowed front, featuring 2, 3, and 4-light flat-chamfered stone mullioned casements with stopped hoods and metal windows, one of which has horizontal glazing bars. The entrance consists of a painted 19th-century studded door with cover strips, accessed by three stone steps and set within a 4-centred arched surround, located off-centre to the left.
