Description
The former coach house, which has also served as a brew house and school master's house, is now used as a store and has a possible ice house attached. This 18th-century coach house is constructed of ashlar limestone and features a flat coped gable with a roll saddle. There are two ashlar stacks, one at the gable end facing the road and another centrally located in the wing parallel to the main house. The possible ice house is made from the same materials and includes a moulded eaves cornice and a hipped roof facing the road. The coach house has an 'L' shaped plan with a later outshut at the rear, creating a square shape. It is two storeys tall with irregular fenestration, including 2, 5, and 7-light stone mullioned windows, as well as a 2-light 20th-century wood casement. A painted plank door is located under a projecting moulded stone lintel, supported by decorative stone brackets, with access provided by what was originally a twin flight of six stone steps, though only one flight remains. The left wall features two large arches that are now blocked, complete with projecting keystones and imposts. The ice house is connected to the coach house by a wall that runs at right angles to the facade, which includes a four-centred arched doorway. The ice house has two storeys, one of which is underground, accessible via a headed doorway leading down five stone steps. The interior of the ground floor of the ice house features a low, brick barrel vault.
