ACKLINGTON ACKLINGTON VILLAGE NU 20 SW (North side) 7/1 No. 18 and adjacent old smithy GV II

House and smithy. Smithy and ground floor of east part of house C18, house enlarged mid C19. Roughly-coursed rubble with tooled dressings; cut quoins. to house; Welsh slate roof with brick stacks. Overall L-plan. House 2 storeys, 1 + 1 bays. Projecting left bay has paired 6-pane casement windows and slit beneath coped gable on moulded kneelers; rendered lateral stack on left return; similar fenestration and renewed door on 2-bay right return. Right bay shows similar windows and coped gable on moulded kneelers; right end stack rebuilt on old base. Attached single-storey smithy to right shows boarded door, 2 stable doors and window with blacksmith's glazing; coped right gable has old brick end stack with chamfered stone cap. Stable door at rear of smithy. All openings in chamfered surrounds.

Interior not inspected in detail but old forge remains.
