ACKLINGTON ACKLINGTON VILLAGE NU 20 SW (North side) 7/2 Acklington Church of England controlled First School GV II

School, dated 1852. Snecked stone with tooled quoins and dressings; Welsh slate roof with 2 stacks rebuilt in brick. T-plan. Tudor style. One storey, 1 + 1 bays. Left bay shows large window holding 4-pane casements, and similar blocked window on right partly hidden by cross-wing outshut; stepped ridge stack with chamfered cap. Projecting right bay is end of cross-wing, showing 4-light mullioned window holding 12-pane sashes with paired 6-pane casements above, and slit below rebuilt stack on gable; end of outshut to left shows renewed door in chamfered surround under shield-shaped datestone with Percy crescent. 3-bay right return; gabled centre bay shows blocked pointed doorway and 2-light window in gable, beneath gabled bellcote with pointed arch. Rear of wing shows similar fenestration to street front.
