Description

The School House and School Cottage is a building constructed from squared snecked sandstone rubble, featuring dressed quoins and window surrounds, topped with Welsh slate roofs. It has a T-shaped plan, with a single-storey schoolroom on the left and a two-storey schoolhouse on the right. Both sections are accessed through an elliptically headed porch located at the angle, with plank doors.

The schoolroom contains two replacement small paned windows and an additional window in the gable end. The gable end of the house features a 4 + 4 pane casement window below and a 3 + 3 pane window above. There is a defaced recessed date plaque in the gable, which was once inscribed with the year 1852. The building has plain bargeboards.

On the long wall to the right, there is a large projecting wall stack with weathering and two flues. This is followed by a bay with windows similar to those previously mentioned, and a gable that has another ridge stack. There is a recessed wall for an extension, which includes two windows: 8 + 8 pane casements below and 6 + 6 pane casements above, along with a doorway featuring a segmental arch. The roof is plain. The rear elevation was not observed.

The schoolroom is simple and plain, while the interior of the house was not seen.
