Description
This structure is a pant, located opposite the Old Vicarage in Acklington Village, dating from the 19th century, with a canopy that may be from the early 20th century. The pump and its housing are made of cast iron and wood, while the trough is ceramic. The canopy is constructed from nailed timber and features a clay tile roof. The pump housing is tall and square, topped with a pyramid, and includes a spout and a long curved handle. The rectangular trough is stamped with 'Jameson & Son, Corbridge' and has an iron bucket rest. The entire assembly is sheltered by a canopy supported by corner posts with shaped braces, which holds a pyramidal roof adorned with fancy ridge tiles and a knob finial.
