Description
Number 62 and the attached smithy is a house and smithy located on Church Street in Melbourne, dating from the late 18th century with later alterations. The house is constructed of red brick and features a first-floor band, a 20th-century plain tile roof with one large rendered ridge stack and a smaller brick ridge stack, and a dentilled eaves band. The attached smithy is made of coursed rubble stone, also with a 20th-century plain tile roof, glazed roof lights, and a brick gable stack on the west side.
The house has two storeys and three bays, while the smithy is a single storey with three bays attached to the east. The main elevation of the house displays three segment-headed casement windows and a segment-headed doorcase with a panelled door situated between the western two windows. Above, there are three similar windows, all featuring two-pane fixed lights or casements. The smithy includes two flat-headed two-light casement windows on the west side and an open bay on the east with weatherboarding on the east wall.
