Description
This is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, and features continuous dentilled brick bands between the floors. The roof is steeply pitched, covered in red clay tiles, with a central brick ridge stack and a 19th-century brick gable stack to the east, along with brick coped gables.
The house is two storeys plus attics, and has three bays. A centrally placed doorcase contains a panelled door and a plain overlight. The door is flanked by wide glazing bar sash windows, each with a rusticated wedge lintel above. A 20th-century replica window, identical to the western window, replaces a 19th-century bay window on the east side. Above the ground floor windows are three narrower glazing bar sash windows. Above those are three gabled dormers, added in the late 19th century, each with a 2-light casement window. Below the dormers, the blocked original attic windows are still visible. The gabled walls are marked by dentilled bands between floors and around the dormer windows.
