Description
SK 38/3925 PARISH OF MELBOURNE CHURCH CLOSE 6/90 (West Side) 18.2.71 Surgery and Attached Range of Outbuildings to North of Close House (formerly listed with Close House) GV II Barn and cowsheds, now surgery and outbuildings. Mid C18 and mid C19 with minor later alterations. Red brick, on stone plinth to southern range, and plain tile roofs, with gable brick stack and dentilled eaves band to western range, plus two brick ridge stacks to southern range. Single storey, plus garret to the surgery and L-plan. Southern range has surgery to north end with a segment headed doorcase, panelled door, and plain overlight below a gabled rustic open porch. To south there is a canted bay window with plain sashes and to north there is a 3-light segment headed casement window. Blank wall beyond to south. North gable wall has a plain sash to ground floor, with 2-light casement window above and numerous blocked breathers. Western range is mid C19 and has a blank elevation to north except for a plank door roughly to centre. South side has five sets of double plank doors to west and plank door flanked by small pane windows to east. Interior has sawn timber collared trusses. Included for group value only.
