Description
This is a mid-17th century house, originally a cottage hospital and now part of a surgery. It is timber framed and has been plastered, with gabled peg tile roofs. The house has two storeys and attics, featuring three small, two-light casement dormers with low-pitched gabled heads. The front of the building has three tripartite double-hung sash windows, with a single central vertical glazing bar, along with one conventional double-hung sash window. A 20th-century lean-to porch with a peg tile roof is situated at the ground floor.
A steeply gabled projecting block is located at the south end, featuring a bulls eye window and similar tripartite sash windows. A single-storey red brick surgery extension with a flat roof sits in front of this block. To the north, a two-storey block with a lower roofline includes a lean-to and 20th-century picture windows, with a garage block beyond.
The rear of the property is partially black weatherboarded, incorporating a section of the old churchyard wall and a blocked gateway. The centre of the main block reveals mid-17th century features internally, including exposed framing and a butt-purlin roof. The building is included for its group value.
