Description

The Almshouses are a pair of cottages dating from the mid to late 17th century. They are constructed with a timber frame, plastered and weatherboarded, and feature a gabled peg tile roof. There is a 19th-century lean-to at the rear. The buildings are two storeys high with attics. The front façade has 20th-century pargetting and includes three-light timber casement windows with leaded lights on either side of a similar two-light window. On the ground floor, there are two three-light windows and a central boarded door topped with a moulded flat hood. The flank elevations are finished in black weatherboarding. The layout follows a typical 'baffle entry' plan, with newel stairs located behind the stack and stop-chamfered bridging joists.
